The Hochspeyer Tourist Office offers guided walks to historical sites in the area, lead by English-spoken tour guides. The tours take participants to Frankenstein Castle, Diemerstein Castle and Villa Denis in the Diemerstein
valley.
Tour 1:
The guided walk to Frankenstein Castle lasts about one hour. In former times, the strategic position of the castle allowed to safeguard the trade route leading through the valley below it. Today a railway tunnel runs below the castle. Walkers have a good view overlooking the village of Frankenstein.
The price for a group of up to 15 people is €15. Each additional adult costs €3, and each additional child, 6 to 14 years old, costs €1. Children under 6 are free. The maximum number cannot exceed 25 people.
Tour 2:
Another guided English-spoken tour will give participants the chance to explore the ruins and history of Diemerstein Castle that lies on a ridge at the fork of Diemerstein valley and Glasbach valley. The castle creates a magnificent background to the Villa Denis located in the valley below.
Duration of the tour is about 1.5 hours.
The group price for up to 15 persons is €75. Additional adults cost €5, children, 6 to 14, €2 each. Children under 6 are free. The maximum number of this group is 25 people. A pre-scheduled tour to Diemerstein Castle will be 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. June 23.
Tour 3:
The combined guided tour of Diemerstein Castle and Villa Denis will be about 2.5 hours long. Villa Denis was built in the 19th century by railroad pioneer Paul Camille von Denis. The villa is one of the few buildings of the Italian- inspired Bavarian classicistic style. Today it is owned by the Foundation of the Technical University of Kaiserslautern.
The group price is €120 for up to 15 people. Additional adults cost € 8 each; children 6 to 14 years €5 each; children under 6 are free. The maximum number of this group is 25 people. The next pre-scheduled date for this combined tour will be offered 10 a.m. to noon May 6.
Tours of the Villa Denis are only possible if the villa doesn´t host an event on the requested day. The tourist office is kindly asking interested participants to check with them beforehand.

Schlossberg, Hauptstrasse 1, 67468 Frankenstein.
Organizers are asking walkers to wear sturdy shoes. Stops for food and drinks before and after the hike are possible. Transportation costs are not included.
