The theme for this year’s conference is “Eradicating Extreme Poverty and Hunger.” The conference serves as a “practice session” to better prepare delegates for The Hague International Model United Nations.

“It’s a ‘little’ THIMUN that puts you in the situation so you can edit your resolutions and see what it’s like to be there,” said Eryn Mertins, a third-year delegate from Kaiserslautern.

This KAHS conference gives delegates the opportunity to debate resolutions, practice public speaking and gives delegates an idea of what to expect in THIMUN.

About 150 delegates are expected from Department of Defense Dependents Schools across Germany, including Bitburg, Heidelberg, Mannheim, Patch, Ramstein, Wiesbaden and Würzburg high schools.

Students from each school will prepare one resolution to be debated at the conference. Kaiserslautern students are preparing a resolution about the effects of child pornography and the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.
