The German government has been conducting a population census since mid-May 2022, including the City and County of Kaiserslautern. Addresses for the household survey were randomly chosen and about 100 volunteer survey personnel, who have been commissioned by the county and can identify themselves, are currently in the community gathering data. Members of foreign armed forces, and their family members living in the same household that do not have German citizenship, are not permanent residents or do not pursue private gainful activities (e.g. run a business) are not obliged to take part in the census.
