Dec. 11 marked a unique race for the European Forces Swim League: Kingfish swimmers competed in a Pentathlon.
Swimmers swam five specialized events: butterfly, backstroke, breastroke, freestyle and individual medley, which demonstrated the Kingfish swimmers’ mastery in all strokes. A Pentathlon win only occurs when the swimmer wins in all strokes, not just one.
“Swimming is painful and requires many hours of dedication to be the best while continuing to be stronger,” said varsity captain Andy Cummin. “I definitely enjoy swimming best than all the other sports.”
The results for the Pentathlon were:
Isabelle Bishop — 11 to 12 year old girls, 50 fly, 32.67 and 11 to 12 year old girls, 100 IM, 1:13.59
Peter Cummin — 13 to 14 year old boys, 100 back, 1:14.30
Sara Gorske — five personal best records
