KMC college-bound youth earn $1,500 scholarships

Three KMC college-bound students each received $1,500 college scholarships through the annual Scholarships for Military Children Program.

The program is open to sons and daughters of members of the U.S. Armed Services and applications are turned in through the Defense Commissary Agency commissaries. KMC winners are: Alexandra Bianchi, who, in high school, was a member of the National Honor Society, volleyball and basketball captain and American Cancer Society volunteer; Ryan Holland, who, in high school, was a member of the National Honor Society, Gunnison Colo. art center volunteer and president of the Academic Leadership Program; and Anna Saver, who, in high school, was a member of the Model United Nations, drama club, brainbowl and the National Honor Society. Nearly 5,000 students applied for the scholarships and 566 were awarded in the competitive program. The Fisher House Foundation administers the scholarships.
