They say that you need three things in theater – the play, the actors and the audience – and each must give something.
***image2***In the KMC, we have several options from children’s theater, to community theater, to the big stage. Each venue gives audience members a cultural experience of exploring the arts. I encourage everyone to take advantage of theater events in the local area.
The Ramstein Youth Center Playhouse Theater will be holding auditions for children, ages 5 to 17 years old, for “A Modern Day Christmas Carol.” Auditions start at the end of September and the performance is in December. For more information, contact the Ramstein Youth Center at 480-6444.
For adults, the KMC offers community theater with KMC Onstage. The group is comprised of volunteers within the KMC community that love to act, sing, dance or run theater sound and lighting equipment. KMC Onstage offers a year full of performances from Shakespeare ballads to Broadway plays. Upcoming performances are “Conversations on Russian Literature” in September, “The Complete History of America (Abridged)” in October, “Honk” in December and January and “To Kill a Mockingbird” in March. To check out what is playing next on their stage or how to audition, call 483-6626 or visit www.mwrgermany.com/nonflash/Kaiserslautern/Theater/Theater.htm.
Outside of the KMC, the Kaiserslautern area also offers several theater venues including the Kammgarn and Pfalztheater in Kaiserslautern and the Haus des Bürgers in Ramstein-Miesenbach. Many of the performances are in English. Each week you can find out more about what performances are in the local area in the Kaiserslautern American’s “Was ist los” section which highlights local cultural events.
You really never can say that there is nothing to do on a Saturday night with this large selection of theatrical performances. Enjoy the theater and discover the arts.
