Beginning in May, KMC personnel will see a significant increase in their utility allowance.
The annual Overseas Housing Allowance Utility and Move in Expenses survey for uniformed U.S. servicemembers was conducted from Feb. 1 to March 15 in Germany. The information provided on that survey was used to update Overseas Housing Allowance utility/recurring maintenance.
The rates are based on the typical costs incurred by servicemembers living in countries outside the continental United States who live off-post or base, have a private lease and receive an Overseas Housing Allowance.
Due to a strong response rate, the Department of Defense was able to gather enough data to support an increase in utility allowance for Germany.
Currently the utility allowance in Germany is €415 per month for a military member with dependents and €311 per month for a single member. Effective May 1, Germany will see an increase in the amount of utility allowance servicemembers will receive each month. A member with dependents will begin receiving €543 and single servicemembers will begin receiving €407.
