Enjoy a romantic summer night passage in a chairlift. Tomorrow, Edenkoben will offer its first of three lantern passages to Rietburg castle. The valley station is located in Edenkoben near the former Bavarian castle “Villa Ludwigshöhe”. On the former robber knights’ nest, visitors will be pampered with culinary delights and live musical entertainment. Palatinate delicacies include schnitzel, sausages, fried potatoes, and home-made swabian cheese noodles. The 8-minute ride in the chairlift promises an unforgettable view across the neighboring cities. At nightfall, each chair is decorated with a lantern for a romantic ride. From the spacious lookout of Rietburg castle, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view over the Rhine valley and the largest continous wine-growing region in Germany. The castle is the ruin of a hillside castle above the Palatinate municipality of Rodt under Rietburg in the district of Südliche Weinstrasse and is located approximately 90 minutes south of Kaiserslautern.
Operating hours for the chairlift are 9 a.m. until midnight. Children under the age of 4 have to sit on an adult’s lap. Children ages 4 to 6 have to be accompanied by an adult traveler, while children older than 6 are permitted to ride without supervision. The last ascent and descent is 15 minutes before the end of the chairlift operations.
Roundtrip ticket fees are 5 euros for adults, 2.50 euros for children ages 4 to 14. Visitors younger than 4 years of age receive free admission.
