***image1***Second-graders in Ms. Luckie’s and Mrs. Maxey’s classes, along with fifth-graders in Mrs. Talleur’s class, kicked off a donation drive at Ramstein Elementary and Ramstein Intermediate schools April 23. The drive ran for three weeks and was an overwhelming success. This was in conjunction with the Troops to School Program at RES.
We collected everything for the comfort and welfare of all ages and sizes in Afghanistan. Community members cleaned out their closets and gave to those less fortunate.
We collected clothes and shoes for all seasons and all sizes; blankets; pillows; towels; leggings and socks; jackets; houseware items; toys; and stuffed animals.
There was a collection point at each school and there was an outpouring of kindness shown by the KMC. The students eagerly sorted, packed and moved boxes every day. When the drive finished, RES and RIS had collected 700 boxes of goods.
The school worked with the U.S. Army to kick off the drive and now the collected goods will be sent to Afghanistan by the U.S. Air Force. This was an amazing effort by our community that will be appreciated far beyond the KMC.
