Military.com and All American Games will be honoring a local high school football player and Department of Defense dependent for their selection to the “All Military.com DOD Team.”
A Ramstein High School senior defensive end/tight end will be honored in a ceremony March 26, during which Military.com’s director of community and government outreach, Dr. Randy Plunkett, will present an “All Military.com DOD Team” jersey and certificate on behalf of Military.com and All American Games.
The program is designed to honor premier high school football players around the world who are dependents of personnel currently serving in the military. Twenty-five high school players were chosen from around the world and each will be honored in a jersey presentation ceremony in the coming months.
Players were asked to submit a video highlighting their football achievements. The videos were reviewed and team members chosen by an all-star panel of judges, including:
• Wes Chandler — San Diego Chargers Hall of Famer, all-pro receiver and veteran NFL coach
• David Diaz-Infante — 16-year NFL veteran, Super Bowl champion and ESPN analyst
• Sam Wyche — Offensive football Innovator who led the Cincinnati Bengals to a Super Bowl and coached under the legendary Bill Walsh
• Michael Husted — 10-year NFL kicker with Tampa Bay, Oakland, Washington and Kansas City
“Military kids have the added burden of frequent moves and starting new schools every few years. To be able to excel in high school sports in spite of that speaks volumes about the character, integrity and talent of these athletes,” said Military.com president and retired Rear Adm. T. McCreary.
Celebrity judge Wyche added, “High school athletes on military bases around the world demonstrate all the qualities of determination, competitiveness and focus that high profiled athletes possess. The only difference is recognition. Well, the ‘All Military.com DOD Team’ selections will take care of that.”
