During a recent event at U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz’s Kleber Kaserne, Capt. Phillip Castillo, 41, a Native American from the Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico, shared his culture with fellow Soldiers.
During November, the Army commemorates Native American culture. Castillo and his wife, Wendy, prepared traditional dishes for the lunchtime event. Their daughters, Lia and Madeline, showed how Native Americans dance.
Castillo explained to the group, which included Soldiers from the 838th Transportation Battalion and the 598th Transportation Brigade, how Pueblo pottery is made and other cultural and historical facts.
