Landstuhl Regional Medical Center’s Department of Pathology and Area Laboratory Services has been awarded an accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists based on the results of a recent on-site inspection.
The LRMC laboratory was advised of this national recognition and lauded for “excellence of the services being provided” according to a CAP news release.
The Department of Pathology at LRMC is one of more than 6,000 CAP-accredited labs nationwide.
“We’ve been accredited before and we passed this time again,” said Lt. Col. Kellie Cole, laboratory manager with the LRMC Pathology Department. “It happens once every two years and you do an interim inspection in the off year. Being accredited means our standards are high.”
The Pathology Department at LRMC includes USAREUR Blood Donor Center, Transfusion Services, the Departments of Microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry and other areas within the hospital.
