Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, made up of seven Army health clinics located in Germany, Belgium and Italy, and its health center in Italy, will undergo a rigorous on-site survey March 24 to 28.
A team of Joint Commission expert surveyors will evaluate LRMC for compliance with standards of care specific to care provided to patients, including but not limited to provision of care, medical records, infection prevention and control, leadership, and medication management.
Maintaining Joint Commission accreditation demonstrates the LRMC health care team’s commitment to the highest level of care for its patients and the community it serves. LRMC Commander Col. Judith Lee has three strategic priorities: casualty reception/wounded warriors; staff resiliency; and quality/access to care/patient satisfaction.
“LRMC makes a significant investment in the safety and quality of its services on a day-to-day basis from the top down,” said Col. Cathy Walter, chief of the LRMC Quality Management Division. “Joint Commission accreditation provides a framework to continue to develop our high performance team and maintain a culture of excellence, sustaining safety and continually improving the care we provide.”
During the survey, the Joint Commission team will be conducting interviews with leadership, staff members and patients, validating critical processes and policies and observing how care is rendered in all settings. This survey also includes verifying the facility and equipment are safe for patient care delivery.
