Two of Department of Defense Education Activity’s main goals, outlined in the 2006-2011 Community Strategic Plan, are for all students to meet or exceed challenging standards as well as form stronger partnerships between parents, the schools and communities. According to survey responses:
• 75 percent of DODEA parents gave the school system an “A” or “B” rating in meeting or exceeding challenging standards while 68 percent of DODEA parents felt partnerships are strong.
• 70 to 80 percent of parents, teachers and students said DODEA schools do a good job welcoming new students into the schools.
• 59 percent of DODEA parents felt there was about the right amount of testing in DODEA schools. DODEA teachers were split on whether there is too much emphasis (42 percent) or about the right amount of emphasis (50 percent) on achievement testing.
