Lifestyle MAN ON THE STREET: What is your favorite European city? March 24, 2016 Interviews and photos by Thomas Warner, Contributing writer Steve Falkenbury“A little place down near Austria called Eglofs. It’s not very big, but it’s about a four-hour drive from here. It’s up in the mountains, and it’s a really great place to visit. I hike a lot, and I have three hunting dogs that we take up there and just let them wander around. We do a lot of hiking there, and it’s got some ski areas too.” Ychiver Gibson“I have been in Europe a total of 17 years and the best place I’d have to say is Wuerzburg, (Germany). The diversity and the cultural aspects of that city are just wonderful. There are great museums, the All Saints Bridge, many places to eat; it’s all outstanding. One restaurant I’d recommend is called Hublands, a Greek restaurant. They have really good food there.” Jayan Gregory“Heidelberg is my favorite place. I just really like the old town feel. The castle there is something Heidelberg is known for, and going up and down the Neckar River is fun too. You have a lot of good restaurants, but mainly I just prefer to stroll through the city.” Chaplain (Col.) Sherman Baker“Frankfurt would be my favorite because my first tour and my second were close to there. I was in Aschaffenburg and Darmstadt so I really was able to spend a lot of time in Frankfurt. You have great musicals, theaters and things to do there. I got married, and for our honeymoon night, we stayed in Frankfurt.” Tracy Villano“I had a great time on a trip to Croatia, but my favorite city is probably Prague. It is really clean, and it’s easy to travel around there (and) walk around. The city of Prague is well designed, and it’s easy to navigate; you don’t get lost walking down the little side streets. It’s beautiful there, and (Alfons) Mucha, one of my favorite artists, has a huge exhibit with his Slav Epic paintings and other things he did housed at his museum there.” Katy Lissau“Rome, Italy, has been my favorite place to spend time in. I like all the historical sights of the city, the people, the food, the nightlife. It was just really nice. I did a lot of walking there and used some of the trams. It was easy to move around and see so many things there.” Tags: Man on the street « Previous × Next » Share Tweet
