Poetry Slam: Let your creative speech and thoughts flow at the Java Café on ROB July 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a Poetry Slam. This event is being put together in cooperation with Java Café, KMC OnStage and the BOSS program. Preregistration can secure you a spot but walk-ins will also be welcome. If you want to get a head start or some pointers, join a free Poetry Workshop at the ROB Java July 15 at 6 p.m. This free event is open to ID cardholders ages 18+. Independence Brunch at Armstrong’s Club: It is never too late to celebrate Independence Day with a bang! Enjoy our brunch featuring exquisite food options to satisfy your taste buds! KMC OnStage Summer Drama Camps: This class is for the blossoming actor who wants to learn about singing, acting, dancing and theatre productions. We will use theatre games to build knowledge, skills, and confidence on stage and in life. We will also cover the basics of how to move on stage, theatre etiquette, vocal projection, breathing, group improv and working within an ensemble. There will be sessions on dance and singing as well. Camp is from July 22 to Aug 2. The class will culminate with a final performance variety show on Aug 9. Classes will be held at the KMC Onstage on Kleber Kaserne, BLDG 3232. The camp is open to ages 6-18. It is $75 to participate. Jazz Night at Armstrong’s Club: On July 27, relax and let the music take you on a ride at Armstrong’s Club Jazz Night. Enjoy Smooth Jazz, Funky Dance Music and dynamic R&B tunes performed by a live jazz band. Summer Reading Program Movies at the Rheinland-Pfalz Library: In celebration of the DOD-wide Summer Reading Program, “It’s Showtime at Your Library,” the main library on Landstuhl will be hosting Summer Movies for the community. Free popcorn and refreshments will be served July 20 for It’s Sharrrrk Time and Aug. 3 for The Beatles Go Under Water. Celebrate World Watercolor Month with the Arts & Crafts Center: July is World Watercolor Month and the Arts & Crafts Center on Smith Barracks has a whole month of amazing activities planned to celebrate! During normal business hours you can simply walk in and for $4 each, create a fan, lantern, boat or pinwheel project from painting to assembly. Watercolor painting projects available are butterfly, zebra, bird, leaf flowers and sea animals. Want to make it a family event? July 18 & 19 will be Family Night where the whole family (up to four people) will get to pick a project each for $12.
