Family Festival in Miesenbach, June 22: The Miesenbach “M.E.T.” club (Miesenbacher Ereignis und Traditionsverein) hosts a family festival on the playground. The festival starts at 2 p.m. The “M.E.T.” club offers food and beverages as well as fun and action for the whole family. Children and their parents can enjoy a varied entertainment program including fun and games by the local club “UVM,” crafting by the local youth group “Straussbuwe & Maed,” further games by the Miesenbach day care center “Kinderplanet” as well as music performances by the Accordion Club Ramstein-Miesenbach. Rose Days at the Rose Garden in Zweibrücken, June 22 to 23: The rose garden, the landmark of the city of Zweibrücken, hosts a “Festival of 1,000 Lights” starting Saturday at 8 p.m. Thousands of burning candles and lanterns illuminate the park and create a romantic atmosphere. Musical entertainment is offered, too. A fireworks display takes place at 11 p.m. The event continues on Sunday from 11 a.m. with music performances and a varied program for people of all ages. Face painting and games are offered for children from 2 p.m. On Saturday the admission fee is eight euro for adults and five euro for children (from 6 to 17 years). Kaiserslautern Classics, June 22: Visit the classic car show from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the city center of Kaiserslautern. Visitors have the chance to stroll through the history of vehicles. Around 200 fascinating classic cars, motorcycles and utility vehicles are displayed throughout the pedestrian area. A fantastic entertainment program with numerous activities is provided. Rock ‘n’ roll music of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s entertains the visitors. Stores in Kaiserslautern’s city center and in the commercial area are open until 8 p.m. The classic cars participate in a motor rally departing at the Kaiserslautern furniture store Möbel Martin at 8:30 a.m. People have the opportunity to watch the cars pass the mall “K in Lautern” towards the finish line at approx. 4:30 p.m. Participants are expected to arrive back at Stiftsplatz at approx. 5 p.m. Address: Fruchthallstrasse 14, 67655 Kaiserslautern
Airshow in Langenbach, June 23: The airshow of the Langenbach Aviation Club with aerobatic planes and classic planes starts at 10 a.m. Sightseeing flights and familiarization flights with microlight aircrafts, gliders and motorized airplanes guarantee great fun for the whole family. Take a Ride with the Boerrstadt Garden Model Railroad — Girl’s Day, June 23: The Boerrstadt Garden Railroad fascinates children as well as diehard railroad fans. It is the only model railroad on a scale of 1:5 that has a passenger transportation license nationwide. Take an amusing ride through the park including a train station, signal tower, tunnel, bridge and a railroad crossing next to the Boerrstadt community center. 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Auditions: Your chance to join the cast of this hysterical and quirky play will be June 24 & 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the KMC OnStage Theater on Kleber Kaserne. Celebrate World Watercolor Month with the Arts & Crafts Center: July is World Watercolor Month and the Arts & Crafts Center on Smith Barracks has a whole month of amazing activities planned to celebrate! During normal business hours you can simply walk in and for $4 each, create a fan, lantern, boat or pinwheel project from painting to assembly. Watercolor painting projects available are butterfly, zebra, bird, leaf flowers and sea animals. Want to make it a family event? July 18 & 19 will be Family Night where the whole family (up to four people) will get to pick a project each for $12.
