The 12th annual medieval summer spectacle will take place June 23 and 24 on Lichtenberg Castle near Kusel.
Visitors can enjoy a historical atmosphere with many attractions. Vendors and actors in medieval costumes will present how life was in former times. The wooden stands and tents will be set up like in the Middle Ages.
The medieval market will be open from noon until 11 p.m. June 23, and 10 a.m. to
6 p.m. June 24.
In camps, which are set up near the 800-year-old castle, knights will demonstrate show fights. Vendors will sell merchandise such as clothes, jewelry, swords, horns, soap and felt items, and former craftsmen such as a blacksmith, shoemaker and a broom maker will show off their skills.
Jugglers and fire-eaters will entertain visitors and music groups will perform medieval music on unique instruments. Visitors can test archery and crossbow shooting.
Children will find a special program for them.
Food stands will serve medieval dishes made from regional products. Fast food will not be included.
Admission fee is €5 for adults and €3 for adults in medieval costumes. Parking fee is €1. Sufficient parking is available. Dogs on leashes are authorized.
Lichtenberg Castle is one of the most impressive castle complexes. With a length of 423 meters it is one of the biggest castles in Germany. It was built in the 12th century and the basics are well preserved.
