Memorial held


A memorial service was held Wednesday in the Landstuhl Chapel for Army Reserve Capt. Marta Maltby, 55, who was found dead by her roommates Jan. 31 on Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. Captain Maltby was an intensive care unit nurse assigned to the 328th Combat Support Hospital (Army Reserve) out of Salt Lake City, Utah.  She worked at LRMC for one year and was scheduled to return to the United States at the end of February.

Conditions surrounding her death are under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division and the armed forces regional medical examiner. She is survived by her husband, Larry Mallard, son Michael Minchey, daughter Malinda Odell and mother Lorene North, all living in Salt Lake City.

Lt. Col. Patience Wenck has been appointed as the summary court officer to properly dispose of the property of Captain Maltby. All persons owing money or property to or having a claim against the estate of Captain Maltby should contact Colonel Wenck at patience.wenck@us.army.mil, relative to their settlement.
