Mountainbike XC Cup races to speed through Hochspeyer in June

The BKK Aktiv Mountainbike XC Cup will take place June 14 in Hochspeyer at the Sportverein DJK Grün-Weiß Hochspeyer. This is the fourth stop on the MTB-Cup Saar-Pfalz. The Mountainbikepark Pfälzerwald cross-country practice course in Hochspeyer serves as part of this 5 kilometer course, in addition to the terrain surrounding the area. There will be racing action all day with different start waves, an expo area with games and vendors with food concessions.

 The BKK Aktiv mountainbike course starts at the Sportverein Grün-Weiß at the west end of the running track. Tough climbs and twisting trails make up this challenging course. Riders will need a balance of power and riding skills to conquer the mountainbike course.  Riders will drop immediately into the Springertal before climbing toward the Jugendherberge via the Mountainbikepark Pfälzerwald CC practice loop.  After a loop on the CC practice course, riders peel off back down into the Springertal via a freshly cut, twisty single track.  Back up a steep climb on the other side of the valley, riders arrive back at the Grün-Weiß. An easy, flatter loop will be used for the Sportbund Pfalz races.

Race packet pick-up and registration the day of the race will start at 8 a.m. and the first race begins at 9:30 a.m. with the U15/U13 boy’s and girl’s races. The free Sportbund Pfalz kids classes start at 10:30 a.m. and will be shorter than the other classes, with a focus on fun. All participants will receive a prize.  There is no pre-registration for the Sportbund Pfalz kids races; adults will need to accompany children to sign a waiver.

 The main cross-country races start at 11:45 a.m. with the Jugend, Juniors and Women’s races, followed by the U23 Men’s Elite at 1:15 p.m., and the Senior Men 1 & 2 and Senior Men 3 & 4 at 3:30 p.m. At the conclusion of the final race, there will be a raffle for all participants and podium presentations.

There will be live music and an announcer along with vendors and concessions. Racers can register online at www.crossracer.eu or at the start/finish area up to 30 minutes prior to start. Entry fees are €3 for the children’s races, €8 for juniors and €10 for all other classes. There is a €5 deposit on all start numbers, which will be refundable upon their return. The Sportbund Pfalz kids race is free.
