When dining at a restaurant, the gentleman should ask the lady what she would like to drink and eat and then give both their orders at the same time to the waiter.
The gentleman should never presume to order for the lady unless she would like him to do so. All ladies should be served first at the table before the gentlemen.
Likewise, ladies should be the first to sample a shared appetizer. No one should begin eating until everyone has been served unless there is a marked delay, then the lady or gentleman who hasn’t been served yet should speak up and encourage everyone to begin eating.
