The community of Weilerbach (which includes Mackenbach and Rodenbach) has issued a new public and safety ordinance addressing proper conduct in public within their community limits.
Such ordinances are very common in the local area. Many other communities, such as Kaiserslautern, Ramstein and Landstuhl have similar ordinances.
Here are some of the rules that apply in Weilerbach as well as other communities:
•In residential areas, dogs must be kept on a leash. Outside residential areas, dogs must be put on a leash as soon as other people approach. Dog owners must clean up after their dogs. Dogs may not be walked on public lawns. Dogs may not roam unattended in public areas and must have a suitable dog walker attending them.
•Disturbing the peace while drunk and aggressive begging is prohibited.
•Relieving yourself in public areas outside restrooms is prohibited.
• The soiling, damaging or destruction of public fittings like benches or playground equipment or the removal of flowers and other botanical objects is prohibited.
•Camping, including the use of trailer homes, is prohibited outside designated areas.
•Use of public areas for commercial purposes, for example the distribution of flyers or the sale of merchandise, and attaching posters to public facades are prohibited.
•Ballgames outside designated areas that may disturb other people or damage property in public areas is prohibited.
•The use of shooting or throwing equipment, including slings in public areas is prohibited.
•Using any type of vehicle (except baby carriages, wheelchairs or children’s toy vehicles) on sidewalks is prohibited.
•Entering public areas or facilities outside their opening hours is prohibited.
•Ice-covered public waters may only be used if they are opened for public use.
Infractions against these rules may result in an administrative fine of up to €5,000.
