Ode to Pollen

***image1***I cough, I wheeze, I choke, I sneeze
From all the pollen carried by the breeze

Just when I think all the blooming is done,
Another season of flowering has begun

I know the trees, the weeds, the flowers and grass
Mock me, my swollen eyes and red nose as I pass

With springtime so bright, so cheery and gay
It’s a cryin’ shame that to survive-in the house I  must stay

The birds sing, the sun shines and the bees are happy
But all I see is a yellow haze and I feel downright crappy

I often pray for rain, even dance and watch the sky
If we got an inland hurricane, I wouldn’t cry

Soon the changing leaves of Fall will come
And round two of the pollen assault will have begun

When the winter cold and snow decide to stay
Then I can go outside to play

No mosquitoes, no spiders, no pollen, no bees
No flowers, no snakes, no scary bugs or flowering trees
Just clear eyes, a happy face and my red nose minus the sneeze
