Orientation tours continue

The Ramstein Airman & Family Readiness Center recently started its downtown K-town orientation tours again Jan. 19.

The orientation includes a walking tour led by a professionally trained United Service Organizations tour guide, a stop at the German-American Community Office, an opportunity to shop at local stores and the chance to experience lunch at an authentic German restaurant. (Costs about €10 to €12).

The Ho family, a family of six, was one of the families on the Jan. 19 tour. The family said they enjoyed their tour ― especially their lunch.

“We enjoyed seeing what types of items to expect or find on the local economy when shopping,” said Wichard Ho.

Jennifer Ho said it was great getting to visit the GACO.

“I will be asking the GACO employees for help a lot,” she said.

The orientation tours will continue for an indefinite period of time on a rotating schedule alternating between Tuesdays and Thursdays.

For more information and specific dates, call the A&FRC at 480-5900.

The tours depart from the Ramstein Enlisted Club at 9 a.m. (8:45 show time) and return around 2:30 p.m. Commanders and supervisors are reminded that the Downtown Orientation is Day Four of base orientation, and military members should be given time off to attend. Child care is available through the Child Care for PCS program.
