The world’s largest pumpkin exhibition at Blühendes Barock (Baroque in Bloom) has been delighting visitors for over 15 years with varying themes. Marvel at artistically designed pumpkin sculptures and enjoy the atmosphere created by over 450,000 pumpkins. The exhibition presents over 600 varieties: aromatic edible pumpkins, colorful ornamental pumpkins, glowing carved pumpkins and bottle gourds. See for yourself just how delicious pumpkin can be! Bike down the Mosel River from the town of Kesten to Bernkastel-Kues, passing steeply sloped vineyards and quaint castles as we make our way downstream. The Simme River Valley is a hidden gem of the Bernese Oberland. A quiet farming valley with sweeping mountain views, an amazing stretch of whitewater kayaking, rolling paved cycling paths, towering limestone peaks, and a variety of different climbing and hiking destinations make this
itinerary a true multi sport adventure. We have special arrangements to stay in the paddling cabin belonging to the Swiss Canoe Federation and the private accommodation includes full kitchen, communal sleeping bunk rooms, a beautiful porch, and our favorite: a large outdoor fire pit as a centerpiece to share about the day’s travels. Instruction will be divided into the varied activities based on group interest, and participants are free to join instructors on the river, on bikes, and at the climbing area or set off on their own to explore the region on foot or by convenient train access from the “Oberwil im Simmental” station next to the cabin. Boppard Klettersteig

Join us on a fantastic clif-face traverse above the Rhine River! On this klettersteig (German word for climbing w/kit) we ascend the fxed steel cable and ladder rungs. If at any time climbing becomes too much, you can parallel the clif on an adjacent path. This trip is combination of klettersteig and traditional hiking; 5 technical kilometers long with an elevation gain of approximately 800 feet. Bring lunch and euro for potential apres-hike dining along the Rhine! Dress for the weather and bring at least one liter of water in a small daypack. Great photo opportunities guaranteed!

Join Ramstein Outdoor Recreation for a day of hiking in the forests of France and Germany. We will hike for about 7-10 kilometers along steep and at times, physically demanding trails which will take us to several 12thcentury castle ruins. We will have lunch on top of one of the ruins with a commanding view of the surrounding terrain. Weather and season permitting we will have the ability to explore one of the castles with intact halls, corridors and rooms! Extra fee 4.50 euro associated with main castle entry; bring euro. Please pack a sack lunch for on the trail.
Dungeons of Dahn Halloween Castle Hike

Get a glimpse of medieval life while visiting the Berwartstein’s dungeons, armories & torture chambers (tour fee included). Positioned on the unique sandstone clifs of the Dahn region. Berwartstein was established in 1152 and previously occupied by the notorious and most dreaded robber Baron of his time. In addition to touring the castle and its grounds we will also spend a good portion of the day hiking around the lush, forested trails surrounding the castle. Pack a lunch, snacks and plenty of water for this fun day of exploration. There is a small café on the premises should you choose to have lunch there. This trip will go rain or shine so please wear or bring weather appropriate clothing.
