***image1***A new section of the passenger terminal here began use Oct. 1 as part of the terminal expansion project.

The new section includes two new gates, jetways and passenger walkways
and is helping the 723rd Air Mobility Squadron with the approximately
30,000 passengers per month they will now be expecting through the
terminal.

The new area was used when the first Patriot Express aircraft came
through Ramstein Oct. 1. The chartered air service was transferred to
Ramstein as part of the Rhein-Main Transition Program.

The second phase of construction, which includes the addition of
another gate, is expected to be done by the end of the year. The final
phase will be complete in February 2006.

The expansion of the terminal is part of the Rhein-Main Transition
Program, and is a conjunctively funded project between the agreement
partners and U.S. MILCON.

The existing part of the passenger terminal was constructed in 2002.
