The German-American and International Women’s Club Kaiserslautern holds its 46th annual Pfennig Bazaar Feb. 27 to March 1 at the Industrial Hall (Industriehalle) in the Kaiserslautern Garden Fair area.
“A successful bazaar depends on donations, volunteers and shoppers,” said GAIWC corresponding secretary Pamela Miod. “We are asking the community to donate clean clothes, table cloths, bed linen, curtains, shoes, household items, small electrical appliances, toys and books.”
The annual Pfennig Bazaar is known as the biggest flea market in the West Palatinate. Proceeds will go back to the community.
“Customers from throughout the area come to get some good deals,” Ms. Miod said. Donated items should be in a good condition. They can be dropped off from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 14 at the club’s storage location on Hackstrasse 4 in Kaiserslautern or 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 21 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 23 in Industriehalle.
Donors can enter the garden fair area from Forellenstrasse. Take B40 from Vogelweh to Kaiserslautern. After Pizza Attack, turn right on Alte Brücke and the next left on Forellenstrasse. Go to the parking lot at the bottom of the street. Industriehalle is a big brick building, located across from the back of Papasote’s restaurant.
“We still need volunteers Feb. 18 to March 1 to help with setting up, sorting and selling,” Ms. Miod said. “If your talent is baking, we also need a lot of baked items to offer on our selling dates.”
For the first time this year, anyone who volunteers at least four hours or donates cookies or cake may attend the opening ceremony and shop the day before the doors officially open to the public.
The Pfennig Bazaar is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 27, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 28 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 1.
