The Ramstein Lady Royals varsity volleyball squad laid claim to the
High School Division I championship by defeating Frankfurt
International School in three games Saturday.
The Lady Royals got to the championship game by knocking off the top-seeded and defending champion team from Heidelberg.
This matched Ramstein up against FIS who also knocked off Heidelberg in the round-robin tournament.
However, Frankfurt wasn’t much of a challenge as the Lady Royals handled them in three straight games.
After the tournament was over, some Ramstein players earned some awards inckuding the tournamen’s top honor.
Ramstein’s Jayci Cachuela was named as the European tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Two other Ramstein players, Regina Fleming and Rachel Rust, were named to the All-Tournament Team.
“I just want to congratulate all my players for contributing to a truly dynamic team,” said Ramstein coach Cynthia Sebastian.
