The Model Train Friends Westpfalz sponsor its 36th Model Train Swap Meet at the Haus des Bürgers in Ramstein-Miesenbach Sunday.

More than 50 exhibitors and clubs from throughout Germany and other countries will present everything dealing with model trains and accessories. The event also includes the display of dolls, doll accessories, tin toys and miniature cars.

“Our swap meet is not just an event to swap, sell and buy, but also an opportunity to show off unique items and set ups,” said organizer Manfred Küster. “The model train swap meet is an approved special market of its kind and known as one of the biggest in Southwest Germany.”

Just like in recent years, organizers were not able to accept all requests for display tables because they only have a certain space capacity.

The Model Car Club Mannheim will set up a race track where children can test their driving skills and determine who is the faster driver.

Model train enthusiasts can also buy, sell, swap and get advice from experts.
“There will be a special test track where the newly bought stuff can be tested right away,” Mr. Küster said.

Besides new items there will also be used locomotives, carriages, tracks, signals, houses, lamps, bridges and spare parts.

“One special item we will present is the miniature model of the former train station of Schönenberg-Kübelberg,” Mr. Küster said. “It was built based on old documentations and photos. People can buy the train station as a kit and build it themselves.”

Some novelties and self-created models will be presented on a garden railroad track. The restaurant Grumbeer in the Haus des Bürgers will also sponsor a model train cafe where visitors can take a break. The swap meet will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Doors open at 10 a.m. Admission fee is €2.50 for adults, €1 for youth and children are free.
