***image1***The Ramstein-Miesenbach advertising association sponsors an “Open Night” Saturday to Sunday. First, a diversified entertaining program is offered before at midnight local stores open.

“We had the idea to hold such an event after we heard that towns, even bigger than ours, did it successfully in the past,” said Hubert Busser from the Ramstein Werbering (advertising association). “Normally there is not a lot going on here on a Saturday night, but people like the idea to be able to shop at night. We especially like to offer this to Americans living here and staying in our local hotels,” added Mr. Busser.

Activities start with an “Over-30-Summer Night Party at 8 p.m. on Marktplatz. Disc jockey Jürgen will run the show.

At 9 p.m., models show clothes, swimwear, sports equipment, glasses and books in a fashion show. A local fitness studio presents spinning and step aerobic performances.

At 11:45 p.m. a fireworks display will be lit until midnight. Then all the stores open until 5 a.m. They present special offers and conduct a raffle.
A night-watchman will make his rounds and call out the time. Cafés and pubs are also open 1 until 5 a.m.. A lights artist will put Marktplatz into the right light. Also, Swedish fires made of wooden blocks are put up to illuminate places.

Car dealers show off their latest models and a hairdresser offer night cuts.
The museum is open for visitors who are interested in the local history. A quintet walks through the streets to entertain people.

“We hope to lure many visitors to our town for the midnight shopping, which is unique for this area,” said Mr. Busser. “And hopefully they will return.”
