***image1******image2***Ramstein Varsity Volleyball teams continued their winning streak with the women’s team claiming their 4th straight U.S. Air Forces in Europe championship at Spangdahlem Air Base and the men’s claiming their 3rd straight championship.
The women’s team finished the round robin phase of the tournament with a record of 4-1, second to Royal Air Force Base Lakenheath, England, at 5-0.
In the final match, the Lady Rams took off and never looked back, taking the match 25-18, 20-25, 27-26 and 25-13.
The Ramstein men’s team tied for first-place with RAF Mildenhall with records of 4-1.
In the championship match, Ramstein left little doubt winning in straight games 27-25, 25-20 and 25-14. The victories qualified both teams to compete in the Army and Air Force Championships.
Players named as tournament All Stars were: Gilbert Sierra, Tracy Lintz, Ronald Istre, Joseph Tano, Tammie Korzekwa, Tracey Trinh and Yukiko Riley.
At the Army and Air Force Volleyball Championships, the Ramstein men’s team took their second straight title in a dominating fashion.
The men never tasted defeat in the tournament, winning in the minimum games possible.
No team scored more than 17 points against the Ramstein men.
In the championship match Ramstein faced off against Army’s number one team Heidelberg.
The team dominated with Ramstein taking the match 25-15, 25-15 and 25-17.
Players named as tournament All Stars were: Joseph Perez, Ronald Istre, Tracy Lintz. Ramstein women named to the All Star team were: Tracey Trinh, Mandy Baugher and Shannon Bryant.
