Tax season is almost upon us and the Ramstein Tax Center needs your help.
The tax center needs volunteers to assist the community with filing taxes for 2009. The tax program cannot function without the outstanding assistance of volunteers.
Ramstein’s tax assistance program will focus on helping active-duty members and Department of Defense civilians and their dependents learn to prepare and file their own tax returns through the tax center at the Ramstein Legal Office.
There are no special requirements to be a volunteer for the Ramstein Tax Center – you only need a true desire to help others. No previous tax experience is needed. Volunteers may be officers, enlisted members, civilian employees, dependents or retirees.
Training will be provided through IRS online training in conjunction with a specialized, yet understandable, course put on by the Ramstein Legal Office at the Ramstein Community Center between Jan. 11 and 15.
The course will focus on the basics of preparing a return for those who have little to no tax experience and also on the specific tax issues that we face living overseas and being associated with the military.
If you are interested in volunteering at the tax center or have any questions about volunteering, send your name and contact information (duty phone and duty location if applicable, e-mail address and any other contact information) to Airman 1st Class Helga Evora at helga.evora@ramstein.af.mil.
