***image1***The Ramstein Lady Royals lost to the Mannheim Lady Mustangs 79-69 Saturday at the Vogelweh Fitness Center in an exciting contest.

These two teams know each other quite well as this is the fourth meeting between them this season. Mannheim has won every game between the two this season so Ramstein entered Saturday’s game determined to avenge them and come away with a win.

Lanika Freeman nailed the first shot of the game and put the Royals up by 3 to get things going but Mannheim answered right back with a 3-pointer of their own.

Ramstein played a good first half but found themselves down by 19 at halftime 41-22.

However, Ramstein came back in the second half cutting Mannheim’s lead to 7 with just over two minutes left to play. Jennifer Brooks led Ramstein with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Nicole Howard added 13 points of her own.

Ramstein rose to the challenge and looked like they just might come away with the win, but Mannheim held on for the victory.

Tanya Weaver led the way for Mannheim with a 22-point performance.

Jennifer Brooks said after the game, “We started to come back in the second half but it was too late, we’ll get them next time.”

The Ramstein Lady Royals’ next game is this Saturday in Hanau.
The Ramstein men’s team won their game against Mannheim with Austin Layton leading the way. They also play at Hanau Saturday.
