KMC members start the 86th Force Support Squadron’s annual Ramstein Half Marathon Aug. 15, 2015, on Ramstein. First, second and third place prizes were awarded to the top male and female times in four age groups, as well as prizes for the top male and female time overall.
U.S. Airman 1st Class Spencer Stone along with Jane D. Hartly, U.S. ambassador to France, and his two friends speak at a press conference Aug. 23, 2015, in Paris following a foiled attack on a French train. Stone was on vacation with his childhood friends Aleksander Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler when an armed gunman entered their train carrying an assault rifle, handgun and box cutter. The three friends, with the help of a British passenger, subdued the gunman after his rifle jammed. Stone’s medical background prepared him to begin treating wounded passengers while waiting for the authorities to arrive. Stone is an ambulance service technician with the 65th Medical Operations Squadron stationed at Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal.
Firefighters and medical personnel transport a wounded warrior from a C-17 Globemaster III to an ambulance Aug. 9, 2015, on Ramstein. Personnel from the 86th Civil Engineer Squadron Kaiserslautern Military Community Fire Emergency Services, the 10th Aeromedical Evacuation Operations Team and the 455th Critical Care Air Transport Team assisted with the aeromedical evacuation out of Afghanistan.
Staff Sgt. Clay Porter, 435th Security Forces Squadron Ground Combat Regional Training Center instructor, is treated for a simulated gunshot wound during the Tactical Combat Casualty Care course Aug. 5, 2015, in Baumholder. Students learned how to gain fire superiority and treat uncontrolled bleeding with a tourniquet before continuing tactical field care during their medical training.
Lt. Gen. Timothy Ray, commander of the 3rd Air Force and 17th Expeditionary Air Force, and Col. Martin Rothrock, commander of the 65th Air Base Wing, furl and encase the 65th Air Base Wing flag during a redesignation ceremony August 14, 2015, on Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal. With this redesignation ceremony, the 65th Air Base Group is now aligned under the 86th Airlift Wing and remains positioned to provide agile combat support and services to aircraft and aircrews.
