The annual Rheinland-Pfalz State Fair takes place July 3 to 5 in Bad Kreuznach. For the 26th time, cities and union communities of the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, as well as military forces, will participate in the fair to demonstrate who they are and what they have to offer.
Entertaining programs with live music, dance performances, presentations and displays will be offered on 13 stages and in activity areas in the center of town, Kurpark, Schloss-Park and along the banks of the Nahe River.
“I’m looking forward to this state fair with a diversified and free entertaining program,” said Kurt Beck, minister president of Rheinland-Pfalz. “Our radio stations will present national and international artists, and our cities and counties will pass out tourist information and serve regional food specialties.”
The U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force will be available at the former Holzhäuser area. The Air Force will be represented by the fire department with a fire truck, security forces with a weapons display and police vehicles, an explosive ordnance disposal team with their robot, the 1st Combat Communications Squadron with an antenna station, and the 86th Air Mobility Squadron with an aircraft arresting system and more.
The Army will send the 21st Theater Sustainment Command to show their apprenticeship program and the 5th Quartermaster Riggers will demonstrate how to pack parachutes.
Traditionally, Minister President Beck will sponsor a military youth reception for selected Soldiers and Airmen and members of the German Bundeswehr July 3. Attending Airmen are Airmen 1st Class Jeffrey Huff, Alissa Miller, Timothy Nevins, Justin Shell and Sean Lopez.
A farmers and organic market will be set up on the Nahe River bridge and in the historical part of town. Farmers and vintners will present their agricultural products as well as handcrafted items.
Rescue and relief services can be found in the Kurpark area and on Bourger-Platz.
“Since our town is a spa town, for the first time the state fair is offering a health and wellness park,” said Andreas Ludwig, lord mayor of Bad Kreuznach. “Visitors can join fitness demonstrations and yoga.”
In Schloss-Park, a variety of sports will also be offered including dancing, martial arts, aerobics, table tennis, street soccer and hockey, among others. The market of cities and counties will present the area’s cultural, economical and culinary diversity on Kurhausstrasse. There will be craftsmanship stands, arts displays and tourist information booths. A wine village will be set up under the historical bridge houses.
The entertaining programs on the stages with various bands, singers and disc jockeys will begin at 3 p.m. July 3, 10 a.m. July 4 and 11 a.m. July 5. The U.S. Army Band will play from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. July 3 in Schloss-Park and the First Armored Division Band will perform in the traditional festival parade from 1 to 5 p.m.
