The Rodenbach gymnastic club, TV Rodenbach, will hold its 39th annual Torch Run Saturday. The 7-kilometer cross-country track will be lit with more than 300 torches. The children’s track for ages 6 to 12 years old is 1,100 meters long.
“The torches on the track create a unique atmosphere and provide an extraordinary experience for each runner,” said Marianne Konrath-Jalbert, chief of the organization team.
The run for students, born in 2012 and later, will begin at 5:30 p.m. The start of the main run is scheduled for
6 p.m. The track will start with a moderate climb for a warm-up followed by easy downhill. Registration will be open until 5 p.m. The fee is €8 for adults and €3 for students.
Prizes will be awarded to age and gender group winners and to the largest participating group. All children will receive a certificate in a special ceremony. Showers and changing rooms are available in the gym.
“The focus of the torch run is not on winning but on doing sports together and to feel the pride when achieving a medal,” Konrath-Jalbert said.
Interested participants can socially interact with other groups and runners in the gym’s meeting area, where snacks will be served.
“We want runners to challenge themselves and meet friendly people,” Konrath-Jalbert said.
Signs will lead the way to the gym of TV Rodenbach.
