Self-Help Center winner named

The KMC Self-Help Center, started off the New Year by announcing the first “Self-Help Project Award” winner of the last quarter of 2005.

“Congratulations go out to the 435th Comm-
unication Squadron/U.S. Air Forces in Europe commander’s Network Support Cell for their outstanding work towards renovating their office area,” said Lt. Col. Deborah McMurtrey, 735th Civil Engineer Squadron commander.

To be eligible to win the Self-Help Project Award, a unit must complete a self-help project.

The KMC Self-Help Center, Ramstein Bldg. 510, is open Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is closed the last Friday of the month for inventory.  More than 250 over-the-counter items and over 150 different types of tools and equipment are available at the center as well as salt for the winter months and flowers and potting soil during the spring months.

A renovation is in the works to keep up with the growing demand being placed upon the Self-Help Center.  The finished product will be approximately 2,000 square feet larger with an additional 660 square feet of covered storage, improving the show room, said Colonel McMurtrey.  For more information, call 480-5034/5035.
