Senior enlisted advisers from all over U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army gathered Jan. 27 at the Kaiserslautern Community Activity Center, Daenner Kaserne, for a Senior NCO Forum.
Gen. Carter Ham, USAREUR and Seventh Army commanding general, gave the opening remarks.
“There aren’t many places I go where I’m intimidated. This is one,” he said, jokingly, to the assembled command sergeants major and sergeants major.
He went on to reveal that during his time as an enlisted Soldier, he had served in the coveted position as the battalion command sergeant major’s driver.
The forum was an opportunity for the senior enlisted advisers from various commands to meet and discuss issues in their respective commands and those that cross their commands.
“The forum is (a place) for us to talk about our Army, issues in
theater and also issues that will help us take care of our warriors,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Ismael Rodriguez, command sergeant major for 405th Army Field Support Brigade.
The forum also provided a venue for Seventh Army and the Installation Management Command, Europe Region representatives to share information.
Command Sgt. Maj. Tracey Anbiya, IMCOM-E command sergeant major, said it was about commands helping other commands with issues that they might not have.
“Anything that we can help with,” she said.
In addition to giving Major Anbiya, who is new to her position, an opportunity to meet her Seventh Army counterparts, the sergeants major also received a briefing on upcoming IMCOM initiatives in Europe.
After a full day of briefings on topics that ranged from NCO professional development to retention, the attendees traveled to Rhine Ordnance Barracks to see the Program Executive Office Soldier display of the latest and future equipment and weapons systems for the Army.
