One of the most difficult parts of serving in an overseas location is being away from everything we know and love.
As winter dawns in our part of the world, the absence of familiar comforts, can be especially daunting.
That’s where the 435th Services Squadron begins its mission of serving “from the front line to the home front.” One of our primary roles is to bring the comforts of home to the brave men and women – and their families – who serve our country so faithfully. Services offers a whole variety of facilities to help provide important morale, welfare and recreation activities for our Airmen.
And because Ramstein is the biggest air base outside of the United States, the 435th Services Squadron offers some pretty amazing things.
Ramstein has world-class club facilities. The Enlisted Club, which was completed just over a year ago, boasts Martini’s Lounge and Club E, two stunning clubs within the club that help our enlisted members unwind with regular live music, giant plasma screen TVs and a club ambience that could come straight from the hip neighborhoods of lower Manhattan.
The Ramstein Officers’ Club offers amazing space for meetings and conferences and is also a fantastic spot for folks of all ranks to kick off a weekend by trying the Friday Super Smorgy Buffet.
The 435th Services Squadron also boasts a number of facilities that are designed to bring us all a bit closer to the places from which we came.
Miss your old bowling alley back home? Visit the Ramstein Bowling Center: They’ve got tons of open lanes, great food and a wonderful Americana atmosphere.
Interested in car audio, guitars, compact discs and DVDs? Check out MOMS Superstore, which has them all. Services operates a superb 18-hole golf course with a phenomenal steak house, a library with lots of free internet access, youth centers and a community center with non-stop activities, Internet and X-box activities for all.
For those desiring off-base adventures, Recreation, Tickets and Travel provides servicemembers and their families unique opportunities to travel around Europe. As snowy weather arrives, and the Alps begin to look more and more beautiful, don’t forget to check out Ramstein’s Outdoor Recreation and Gear Up Sports Store.
Rent snowboards at the former and buy (brand new snow boards just arrived) warm clothes at the latter. And even if you aren’t interested in skiing or snowboarding, Outdoor Recreation offers great trips for travelers of all persuasions.
Services oversees many other areas that are so important in today’s Air Force – we operate the dining facilities, offer adult education classes and training programs, and we take care of our fallen heroes through mortuary affairs.
In fact, our name says it all. We are here to serve you from the front lines to the home front. So please stop by one of our facilities today. We look forward to serving you!
