Lifestyle Shaving heads for St. Baldrick’s July 11, 2013 Photos by Airman Dymekre AllenThe St. Baldrick’s foundation conducted the fourth annual “Shave your head for childhood cancer” event June 30 at the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center on Ramstein. The foundation hosted a volunteer charity event in which 117 military members, civilians and dependents in the KMC sheared their locks in support of raising awareness and money to bring hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting the war on cancer. The St. Baldrick’s head-shaving events began as a challenge between businessmen and has grown from one event in 2000 to more than 1,290 events in 2012. This year’s event rose 11,500 in donations, surpassing the goal of 10,000. Team PMEL was the largest contributor by donating more than 4,500 for the charity event.
