Sembach Middle School eighth-grader Hiram Elizondo works with a visiting German student in science class during a recent school exchange program.
SMS students hosted 31 German seventh grade students from the Winnweiler Wilhelm-Erb-Gymnasium Dec. 15.
The visit was hosted by Frau Jeannette Street’s and Frau Baerbel Henke’s German 1 and 2 students with the goal of acquainting German students with the schedule and classes in an American school. The students paired up and practiced each other’s languages, sat in on classes, went to recess and had lunch together.
“The American students were surprised by the advanced English spoken by the German students,” said Frau Street.
The American students will visit the German school in the spring.
