The lowdown:
There is plenty of space to move at the Vogelweh Fitness Center. The facility’s defining feature just may be its bright, spacious gym that sits beneath second-story bleachers. Both the gym floor and the bleacher steps are used frequently for physical training. Circling the gym like satellites are other fitness rooms, including two raquetball courts and a free-weight room.
The fitness center really shines from a personnel perspective, as well. “This place has top-notch staff,” said Cesar Alvarez, Sembach Fitness Center director. “Any fitness center manager would be happy to have them.” Staff members are always on hand to answer any questions patrons may have.
The gear:
Cardio equipment includes eight treadmills, four elliptical trainers, six bikes and three stair machines. There is also a fair-sized free-weight room that includes benches, squat racks, dumbbells and more.
The activities:
There are a plethora of events and activities held at the Vogelweh Fitness Center, including aerobics, personal training, Brazilian capoeira, belly dancing, step aerobics, intramural basketball and volleyball and plenty of PT (both Air Force and Army). Tae kwon do classes are also slated to start in the future.
One must-know fact:
Vogelweh Fitness Center just put in a room full of brand-new selectorized weight equipment on Wednesday, so the time is now to help break it in.
Opening hours:
Monday to Friday – 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday, holidays, goal and family days – noon to 5 p.m.
The bottom line:
For a variety of physical fitness options set in a friendly, spacious environment, head to the Vogelweh Fitness Center.
