Softball tryouts
The Ramstein Lady Rams varsity (slow pitch) softball tryouts will be held from 11 a.m. to
5 p.m. April 12 and 13 on the softball field behind Southside Fitness Center. To try out, you must be an ID card holder 18 years or older. For details, call Linda Poe at 479-4221.
Officials clinic, tournament
Do you want to get certified or re-certified as a softball official? Take part in a free softball officials clinic at 9 a.m. April 15 to 18 at the IMCOM-E Headquarters, Bldg. 111, Room 153, on Sembach Kaserne. Open to all ID cardholders, ages 18 and older. Then, take part in a practicum tournament on April 19 and 20 at KAD Field near Daenner Kaserne. Games begin at 9 a.m. This tournament is open to the first eight teams to sign up. Doggie Dash 5K Run/Walk
Dog Center Europe and U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation will host the second annual Doggie Dash 5K Run/Walk May 3. Participants may register at Bldg. 235 on Rhine Ordnance Barracks from 8 to 9:15 a.m. on the day of the event. The 5K run/walk and the 1K fun walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. The event will also include military working dog demos at 9 and 10:40 a.m., plus family dog contests (including doggie costume contests) starting at 11 a.m. All dogs must be on a leash. Vaccinations will be available for dogs that are pre-registered for the vaccine clinic with the Kaiserslautern Veterinary Treatment Facility no later than April 28 (call 493-4445 or 0631-3406-4445). AER golf tournament
In support of the Army Emergency Relief Campaign, come out to the Ramstein Woodlawn Golf Course for the fifth annual AER Golf Tournament May 9. Registration takes place at 6:15 a.m.; shotgun start begins at 8. Price is $60 for members and $75 for non-members. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place, along with a prize for the last place team as well. Advance purchase of tickets is required. Soccer referees needed
The Kaiserslautern Officials Association, which provides sports officials for Department of Defense Dependents Schools, is now looking for soccer officials. The only beginning qualifications include soccer experience at the high school or college level, a desire to give back to the sport and the ability to travel to schools throughout the DODDS area on game days. KOA referees receive good game pay, mileage and overnight lodging when needed. For more
