The city of St. Wendel will host its annual arts market, Sankt Wendeler LebensArt, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The historical streets in the old part of town will turn into a workshop for arts and craftsmanship. More than 100 artisans from all over Europe will present their works.
“When you are looking for something very special and unique, you are in the right spot,” said Leonie Paque from the St. Wendel city marketing office. “The arts market is a treasure trove for excellent arts and crafts.”
Visitors can watch how the artisans create some of their unique items as they present different techniques that they work with. Visitors will find a variety of ceramics as well as sculptures and objects made of wood, glass, leather, cloth, paper, stone and metal. There will be clothes, hats, purses, jewelry, housing accessories, sound objects and wind chimes decorated with special designs. Artisans will also create fashion or furniture on special request.
“We are happy to be able to host this extraordinary event in the center of our town,” said Peter Klaer, mayor of St. Wendel. “Our charming pedestrian zone with the little street cafes, neat restaurants and fine stores offer the right atmosphere for such a high-class market.”
Each afternoon, members of the Circus Theater ZouZou from Amsterdam and Zzartagan, a knight on his horse, will entertain the audience in the streets.
The CITY-Garage will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Plenty of visitors’ parking spots will be available on Missionshausstrasse. Follow the sign “Parkleitsystem” leading to the different parking areas.
St. Wendel is located north of Neunkirchen.
