The City of Kaiserslautern starts its park concert season Sunday in Volkspark.
The brass orchestra of the Kaiserslautern County Music Association and the youth brass orchestra of KRV-Kaiserslautern will perform the opening concert. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., they will take visitors into the “World of Brass Music.” Concerts will take place every two weeks. All eight concerts are free.
The Sembach Music Association presents folk music and rock June 8. The Big Band of Fachhochschule Kaiserslautern performs swing music and the Odenbach Music
Association plays traditional and modern brass music July 6.
A special event included in the concert series is the “Lights fest in Volkspark” July 19. Various bands perform from 6 p.m. to midnight and a musical fireworks display is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. More brass music will be played July 20. In August, three more concerts will take visitors on a trip around the world and the State Police Orchestra from Mainz will demonstrate its “musical way of police work.”
A bistro in Volkspark serves little snacks and cool beverages. Next to the music pavilion is an adventure playground for children.
Volkspark with its duck pond is located on the corner of Donnersberger and Entersweiler Strasse (next to the public swimming pool).
