SWR radio, tv stations feature German-American relationships

***image1***The regional radio and television stations, SWR 1 and SWR4, present a special program based on German-American friendship July 11 to 25.
Emphasis is on the relationship between the United States and Rheinland-Pfalz, not only under the aspect of higher politics such as the presidential election and reduction in forces, but also under the aspect of little private things such as relationships and family ties between Americans and Germans. People who have an “Atlantic” relationship, will be able to talk about it.
Another subject of the program is the influence American music has and the question if there are German influences on Americans as well.
Under the motto “Chewing Gum and Nylon Stockings,” SWR4 features memories of postwar years. American Soldiers will look back to their time in Germany. Also, Germans will tell how they received the American citizenship.
In a radio interview for the talk show “Leute,” people, scheduled to broadcast at 10 a.m. July 18 on SWR1, Brig. Gen. Rosanne Bailey, 435th Air Base Wing and KMC commander, will talk to the host Birgit Steinbusch.
In another “Leute” show at 10 a.m. July 25 in Mainz, singer, entertainer and actor Ron Williams, will let the audience know how he learned radio at American Forces Network while stationed in Germany. People who want to visit the show at the club “Alte Patrone” can call 06131-466648 to reserve tickets for 5 EUR.
SWR1 radio can be reached on UKW 94.9 and SWR4 is on UKW 105.6 in Kaiserslautern.
