Scout racers negotiated hairpin turns, “spinouts” and heaping spoonfuls of applesauce, dodged plastic crustaceans and stuffed animals, and, occasionally, grass-skirted Boy Scouts or leaders en route to the checkered flag and plenty of good, mostly clean fun during the Pack 69 “Cub-Annapolis” held Dec. 7 at Vogelweh Elementary School.

The Soldiers of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command’s Regional Support Element-United Assistance have been conducting operations in Dakar, Senegal, for over a month. Recently, with the arrival of the element’s main body and the completion of construction operations, the team moved into the Intermediate Staging Area and began conducting daily operations.

On an early Tuesday morning, Soldiers from two nations walked onto a dirt field and started warming up. They worked on the same base each day and saw each other in passing, but on that day they spent the morning’s physical training hours engaged in a Senegalese pastime — soccer.
