Instructors and students of a Fly Away Security course participate in a three-mile run prior to graduation April 18 on Ramstein. After completing the 10-day predeployment course, the defenders are ready to be deployed throughout the world, protecting aircrew and aircraft in austere locations.

After months of planning and preparation, members of the 435th Security Forces Squadron initiated the new U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa Fly Away Security program and had its first class of graduates
April 18 on Ramstein.

The event started with a run from Pulaski Barracks to Ramstein and ended with a march to their newly completed complex. The 12.2-kilometer event commemorated the 435th SFS’s heritage, stemming back to the 786th SFS at Sembach Kaserne. The 435th SFS not only deploys around the world in support of a variety of operations, they also play a vital role in training other security forces members in advanced tactics and procedures.
