For the roughly two-week-long event, the U.S. organized a full assembly of military representation, including the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Army Reserve, Army National Guard and Air National Guard. Chaplain (Maj.) Jonathan Zagdanski, 7th Mission Support Command, lights a Menorah to officially begin the celebration of Hanukkah Dec. 6 on Ramstein. The Festival of Lights historically goes back to 168 B.C. to the time of Judas Maccabeaus, who ordered an 80-day celebration following the rededication to the Temple in Jerusalem. Hanukkah runs through Sunday.
