Ramstein possesses a grab-bag of numbered squadrons, detachments and globally separated units. How these squadrons came under control of the 86th Airlift Wing starts back when the wing was first established.
More than 150 Ramstein Airmen from the 86th Airlift Wing and 435th Air Ground Operations Wing, along with U.S. Army jumpmasters, participated in Stolen Cerberus, a two-week flight training deployment designed to incorporate various training methods to maintain proficiency during deployed operations from Feb. 2 to today.
Approximately 10 Airmen and equipment from the 86th Airlift Wing, 435th Air Ground Operations Wing and other units from Ramstein went to Royal Air Force Lakenheath to provide assistance after an HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter crash took the lives of four Airmen from the 56th Rescue Squadron Jan. 7.
There may come a time when an issue arises that seems like it cannot be resolved through the chain of command. When that occurs, Airmen can turn to the office of the inspector general.
